Commissioning a Portrait

Portraits of Olivia and Ida, painted by Saska PalmerIf you are considering commissioning a portrait please first read through the price guide. The list is meant as a guide and is based on a portrait painted in acrylic paints on a stretched canvas using photography as reference.

Initially, you can chat to me informally by phone to discuss your requirements. You may already have a favourite photograph in mind and you would need to either send a copy of this by post or email a digital copy. If you live within a reasonable distance I can visit you, meet the subject and make sketches and photographs. Travel expenses would be included in the cost of the portrait.

Once you have decided, a 30% deposit is needed to secure the commission.  The remaining balance is paid on completion and approval of the final portrait.

Once your portrait is completed, I can deliver it to you personally or, if you live some distance away, it can be posted to you via secure, insured and guaranteed delivery.  Postage prices vary according to the size of the canvas.

Framing can be arranged at an extra cost or alternatively your portrait can be delivered to a framer of your choice. All canvasses, however, can be hung without a frame it you so choose.
