I asked Saskia to paint a portrait of Gilbert, my partner's cat, from a photograph taken some months before he died. We've had many cats but Gilbert was always the favourite and there was a big hole in a household once filled with a big cat and his big personality. I had planned to give it as a Christmas present, but was so happy with the result, put it in the window of my shop and presented it as a late birthday gift.

To say he was pleased is an understatement! Everyone who knew the cat has seen the portrait - and says that Saskia has captured him perfectly - and now he is back in his rightful place, near the fire, surveying the dinner table - and with us once more. Incidentally I am holding Gilbert on the portrait and it's a very good likeness of me too, although I'm definitely not the focus of attention!!

For Christmas I wanted to give my husband a unique, special gift. Then I discovered Saskia! I asked her if she would paint our beloved little dog Scrump. From start to finish Saskia was helpful, professional, extremely friendly and kept me informed throughout. She came round to our house and took loads of photos of Scrump. I told her I would love for her to capture his 'laughing face' as we call it, and left the rest to Saskia.

The result was breathtaking!! The painting captures him perfectly, it couldn't be any better. When I gave the painting to my husband (but beware, keeping it a secret is really, really difficult), he almost cried he was so overwhelmed.

Scrump now hangs pride of place on our wall. A constant reminder of our beautiful little dog forever.

Thank you so much Saskia. It is wonderful. Your skill and attention to detail has given us a much loved perfect painting. It will be cherished forever and be a lasting happy memory of our amazing little dog. Without you we wouldn't have this.

Our commission of one of Saskia’s portraits really came to us by a fortuitous accident at a charity auction in aid of St Luke’s Hospice. We’d had portrait photos but never considered having a painting of our children before. Saskia came along to take some photos and was great with the kids. When the portrait arrived I was just overwhelmed and instantly fell in love with it. The kids loved it too (phew!). Saskia has very cleverly captured their individual characters perfectly. It’s a beautiful and very special piece of personal artwork, one which we love having on the wall and which we will always enjoy and treasure – thank you from the bottom of our hearts Saskia.

Saskia has got not only the visual look perfect, down to the tiniest details of Molly’s colouring and markings, but she has also somehow managed to capture the personality of Molly too. Saskia met Molly in the park and noticed the little details like the paw held up to ask for the ball to be thrown, and the shining eyes, and even suggested including Molly’s favourite pink bobbly ball in the picture, which is the most brilliant finishing touch.

Every time we are out walkies with the ball we now think of Saskia’s brilliant painting! We’re so happy we got the portrait done while Molly was in her prime and we can have it to remind us of her in the future when she’s not so lively.
